Parent Expectations
Outlaws Parent’s Expectations
The following is basically what we know it will take to create successful Select baseball team. This will outline what we will teach and what we expect from our players and parent’s. All the information comes from years of trial and error and hours of observations of other teams at practice/tournaments.
- The beginning of every practice will begin with fundamental drills to focus on stretching, throwing and fielding.
- We expect our players to come to the fields motivated, focused and ready to learn.
- Players should always come to practice in baseball pants, shirt, hat and all their equipment (glove, bat, and batting helmet).
- Every player will have an infield and outfield position. Every player will rotate throughout the games from infield, outfield and bench. (Exception: Sundays during tournaments)
- Batting Line-up will be determined by Speed, power, hitting ability and trends from practice and previous games/tournaments.
- The success of our team will be based on the growth and development of each player as well the team as a whole. Wins and losses don’t show the true success of a team. Wins will come as the team grows together and learns to play together.
The next portion really pertains solely to the parents of this great team and what we expect from you.
- Have your player to practice on time. If you need help getting your player to practice please contact a coach as soon as you know you need a ride for your player. The winter months are the only real exception where we know there is crossover between the basketball season & ours which ramps up in late Feb.
- Again have your kids in proper attire with all their gear for practice.
- If you are going to be late or miss practice/game please let us know by email, text or phone call ASAP so we can plan accordingly.
- All cost of this team is everyone’s responsibility. This includes tournament fees, Jerseys, hats, catchers gear, baseballs…etc.
- You must set the example for all the players while in the stands. For instance no yelling at umps over a bad call or arguing with parents/coaches from the other team. Most important NO COACHING FROM THE STANDS!!!! If you have a problem with a call or something we said or did please talk to us after the game as adults.
- Only Positive remarks to ALL players especially your own!! Negativity has no place on this team.
Finally I want to say the success of this team depends solely on the relationship between parents & coaches. We set the tone and they will follow our lead in regards to how they see us relate to one another, essentially we are all like family. We want all of our boys to be good teammates & get along then so should all the parents/coaches at practices & games. Of course we won’t always see eye to eye but having respect for one another in how we communicate is a must in order to attain our goals.
